A Long week of Basketball

Finally we close out a long week of basketball for the Kornegay family. On Monday night Katie and the Green Team played and beat the White Team. Kate played well and with much enthusiasm.

On Tuesday night Sarah and the Lady Warriors and John and the JV Warriors played Goose Creek (a.k.a. Duck's Ditch). The girls and boys from Goose Creek really took it to the Warriors. Enough about that.

Wednesday, The Green Team played a great game against The Green Team (actually, the other Green Team). Katie played really well. She had several rebounds and 2 points.

Thursday night UDave and AGenia went to Wando for parents night. We met all of John's teachers and a few of Sarah's. Sarah and John have done an OUTSTANDING job of representing our family. All who read this should be proud of them!! Their dad is very proud of them.

Friday night we were back at the Wando Warrior Tepee (coliseum) for the Warriors' games against Berkeley. Wando won each game except the Varsity Girls game. Both Sarah and John played well in their games.

Carolina may have actually set a family record this week. She went to 8, yes 8, basketball games in 5 days. Way to go Carolina!! The World's Best Fan!

More basketball next week....

Lady Warriors Scalp James Island

The Wando Lady Warriors beat James Island High School on Friday night. The Lady Warriors had one of their better games according to Sarah. John's team, however, did not win. John played well though. The JV Boys lost by 3 points.
Sarah and John both have games on Tuesday and Friday of this week. The Friday game is at Wando, this reporter does not know where Tuesday's game will be held.

Katie plays tonight at The Jones Center. Get there early for tailgating! Tip-off is at 6:30. Katie's Green Team is in 1st place in her league - as if anyone were in the same league as Katie....

Green Team Wins!!

Katie's team (The Green Team) won a big game on Wednesday night. The final score was 11 to 8. The game was actually not as close as the score indicates. Katie played an outstanding game.
On the losing team was a close friend Mary Elizabeth Faulkner. While disappointed in the loss, Mary Elizabeth congratulated Katie on the game.

More basketball news later.

It's time for more Basketball!

Today the Wando Warriors play cross-town rival West Ashley High School. The games will be at the "New" Wando gym. For directions call UDave. John and the JV Boys will play about 5 pm. and immediately following his game the Lady Warriors Varsity Girls team plays.

Yesterday, I accompanied Sarah to Dr. John Graham's office for a follow-up visit regarding Sarah's broken ankle. Dr. Graham gave Sarah a "green light" for her to quit wearing the walking boot and begin running. If all goes well this week, Sarah should be back for limited action next week. Stay tuned....

Katie also has a game on Wednesday. I don't yet know who the competition is going to be. But it doesn't really matter, does it?!

Visit by the Charlestongal, Marc and Ruth

http://beta.easyhitcounters.com/counter/index.php?u=kornegay&s=messy"

Today we were blessed to enjoy a visit for dinner after church with Marc, Ruth and Carey. Fun was had by all. Aunt Genia out did herself with the meal. It was absolutely delicious! Just prior to eating the delicious meal, we engaged in a heated game of "Catch Phrase". I don't like to talk about it, but the men beat the women.
Marc and Ruth had to leave Charleston before 3, so the afternoon was short but sweet.

Welcome end to a long Basketball week

After losing on Tuesday night to Berkeley High, the Wando Warriors visited Stratford High School in Goose Creek, SC. The JV Boys game really put a scare into the Stratford team. However, on a last second shot the Stratford Boys hit a 3 to win by one point.
In the Varsity Girls game the Lady Warriors held it very close up to the 7 minute mark in the 1st quarter. After that the Lady Warriors ran out of gas and lost by 15. Sarah of course is still out and keeping stats.
Katie as you know was on the WINNING "Green" team over the "Red" team on Wednesday. Katie has practice today. John and Sarah have the day off.
More updates next week.

Next game is Friday. Opponent unknown (to me, at this time). Please stay tuned for more Wando Warrior basketball news.

Updates later this week.

Basketball....

John and Sarah are back from England (Bishop England High School, that is). They have road games today in Moncks Corner, SC, at Berkeley High School. IF you want to go, best leave early to avoid all the traffic! You know how that can be in an area like Moncks Corner.
Tune back in tomorrow for the scores in case you aren't going to be able to make the game in person.

Basketball News

Saturday was not as good a day as Friday. The Wando Warriors JV Boys fell short of revenging their earlier loss to the JV Boys of Bishop England. John played well, but his team lost 43 to 34.

After John's game the Varsity Girls (Sarah's team) also lost 31 to 41. This however, was a hugh improvement from the 1st game. In the 1st game the Lady Warriors lost by 40 points. So, we are improving!! Maybe next time we will get the win. Of course Sarah is still the official statistician and not able to play due to her broken ankle.

Katie did not play this weekend.

Wando Warriors Win!!

Wando Warriors Win!!Friday both the JV Boys (John's team) and the Varsity Girls (Sarah's team) won in closely contested games. They defeated Summerville High School.Sarah starred in a new role last night as the official announcer. She introduced the visiting teams' starting line up first. Then introducing the The Lady Warriors!! She continued in her role as official statistician as well. Health Update

To all my friends (if you aren’t my friend please don’t tell me because I have been feeling pretty good lately!)

Update on my health.

As most of you know, last fall several doctors in Charleston told me that I might have MS. After many, many tests the local experts told me that it might be MS but that they are not 100% sure as some of my tests had come back “negative”. There is no single test of any kind to diagnose MS. I have 3-4 “classic” symptoms and tested abnormal (indicating possible MS) on 2 of the clinical tests for MS. However, my brain scan did not show “MS lesions” and my spinal tap did not show MS. Therefore no diagnosis.

So, I decided to go to the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL. Genia and I went down there the week before Christmas. At the Mayo Clinic the doctors were very thorough in examining me. They ran their own series of tests and sent us home. Finally, last week, we heard back from the Mayo Clinic. We had hoped to finally find out for sure what is going on with me…. But it was not to be. The doctors at the Mayo Clinic basically determined the same thing as the doctors in Charleston. I may have MS, maybe I don’t. They are not sure. They are sure I have many of the symptoms and they are sure something is wrong neurologically, but they are not sure what it is, or what is causing it.

The good news is that I may not have MS. Of course the bad news is that no one knows for sure what is going on with me. (Except The Great Physician!)

Thankfully, I have been feeling much better the last 2-3 weeks. Much, much more energy. Otherwise, my symptoms have not changed a great deal. (I won’t bore you with the details!).

Genia and I cannot adequately express our thanks to all of you. You have been unbelievably thoughtful and kind. Thank you ever so much!! We had a great Christmas. The children were terrific, as was my bride. We stayed home and enjoyed each other and all the LORD has given us.

We all feel very loved by our friends and family. Mostly we know that we are loved by JESUS who came at Christmas in order to die – for me! And you! That is GREAT NEWS. He loves us and has a plan for our future, for good and not evil.

You are dear, dear friends. I love you all.
